Collecting Olympic Badges
During the first 60-70 years of the modern Olympic Games, athletes and officials were provided with special tokens or badges as proof of identity which provided access to Games venues and secure sites. Often beautifully-crafted of brass or bronze, and cloisonne, these items are prized among collectors as participation badges. Sometimes ribboned, sometimes numbered, each badge design is unique. Sadly, modern badges are little more than computer-printed plasticized credentials.
