September 2024 Newsletter

Paris 2024 USA Volunteers pinGreetings to our 514 members located in 33 nations.
A special welcome to the 14 new members who
joined since the June newsletter. Most joined during
the Paris Olympics, possibly because our bevy of
members who attended the Games encouraged them
to do so. Included in this issue are several articles from
members who attended the Paris 2024 Summer
Olympic Games! One who attended and traded pins
called them the best Olympics ever. Also, see the
news about our upcoming Olympin Show in Atlanta in early November.

Bob Beamon Video

Bob BeamonHere's an interesting Vimeo (video) featuring 1968 Olympic gold medalist and still the Olympic world record holder in the long jump, Bob Beamon. The video is just 4:30 in length and includes clips from his Mexico City Olympic exploits. Click here to watch.

When this was filmed in 2023, Bob was attending a jazz concert by the Bone Squad on a beautiful midsummers night in Branford, Connecticut. Hundreds of music lovers were spread out on the village green to hear the jazz ensemble at which Bob was featured as a special guest on percussion. At 77, Bob Beaman is still tall and lean and still in search of challenges.
